Meet Enrique Miralles Olivar

Enrique is a senior civil engineer who has developed his professional career in the Spanish Road Association, an organisation where he currently holds the role of Technical Director. His academic interests made him contact the University of Alfonso X el Sabio, where he is currently a professor of traffic engineering and road safety.

He has been involved in several research programs in the field of road safety for the last 20 years, working for public and private stakeholders at a national and international level. He has trained road safety professionals from Latin America. It is important to highlight his involvement in the “Road Safety Initiative” of the Inter-American Development Bank. He is also a member of the Scientific Committee of “Securitas Vialis” Magazine. He is the Technical Director of “Wikivia, the Road Encyclopedia”.

In addition, he has participated as a lecturer in at least 15 national congresses or technical meetings, as well as 5 international congresses, most of them in the field of road safety, like the four Iberoamerican Road Safety Congresses organised in Costa Rica (2008), Argentina (2010), Colombia (2012) and Mexico (2014). He has a broad experience in the conduction of road safety audits in design and pre-opening stages, in Spain and other countries. In July 2016 he start an assignment as a key expert in road safety in the “Honduras Sustainable Project”, financed by the European Investment Bank, where he will develop road safety audits and inspections, as well as provide training and capacity building to the Government of Honduras in this field.
