Meet Jacobo Díaz Pineda

Jacobo is a senior Master’s Civil Engineer specialising in road transport with a solid background in international projects, especially in Europe and Latin America, where he has been recently awarded as an appreciated engineer for his efforts in the improvement of road safety in the region, by the Road Safety Committee of the Province of Buenos Aires (Argentina). As President of the Ibero-American Road Institute (IVIA), his relationship with that continent is getting closer. He holds the position of Director General of the Spanish Road Association.

Frequent consultant of the World Bank and International Development Bank (as a member of the Spanish Road Association or as an independent professional), he is usually involved in road safety international meetings, like those organised by the United Nations (e.g. Moscow, 2009). He has developed more than 10 Road Safety Strategies, not only for the Regional Governments of Spain but also for different Latin-American countries like Nicaragua.

Jacobo has also organised and participated as an expert in several training activities, not only in Spain (10 road safety auditors training courses organised in different Spanish cities) but also in Latin America (Colombia, Bolivia, Argentina). In addition, he has participated as a lecturer in at least 40 national congresses or technical meetings, as well as 20 international congresses, most of them in the field of road safety.
