Celebrating One Year of KEYSTONE: An Overview of Project Progress

On 27-28 May 2024 KEYSTONE partners united for a General Assembly in Altea, Spain.

The KEYSTONE project turned one year old in June 2024. To celebrate this occasion, KEYSTONE representatives united for a General Assembly meeting to review achievements, share updates and plan for the next two years ahead. The meeting was organised by Etelätär Innovation, a KEYSTONE Consortium partner, in charge of developing the web app of the project.

KEYSTONE Reveals Stakeholder Priorities and Expectations for Logistics Digitisation

Learn more about the outcomes and results of the recently completed WP1, which was in charge of defining stakeholder requirements.

KEYSTONE addresses the existing regulatory fragmentation, enhances standardisation and fosters digital transformation through incentivisation and user-friendly solutions. During its first year, the project engaged with a large number of stakeholders from the European transport and logistics ecosystem to understand their critical priorities and expectationstowards a more integrated, efficient, and digitally resilient logistics sector.

Meet KEYSTONE at the 7th CSuM Conference in Karditsa, Greece

The renown conference focuses on sustainable mobility and takes place 4-6 September 2024 under the motto "Climate Crisis and Resilient Tranpsortation Systems.

KEYSTONE project partners Mrs Zoe Petrakouand Mr Charis Koutsis, from Aethon Engineering, will present during the Technical Session 6.2 the paper titled “Emerging opportunities and challenges for resilient supply chain”, on 5 September 2024, at 14:30 – 16:30(CET + 01:00).

The paper is authored by Coventry University along with contributions from Aethon Engineering and ICOOR and shares useful insights regarding the need for standardisation, actual collaboration and the improvement of data literacy.

On 15-18 April 2024, KEYSTONE was present at the TRA 2024 in Dublin, Ireland.

KEYSTONE Highlights Innovations in Logistics Digitisation at TRA 2024 in Dublin, Ireland

KEYSTONE project participated at the Transport Research Arena Conference (TRA), this year taking place in Dublin, Ireland. KEYSTONE partnershad had the opportunity to attend several sessions, present the recent findings of their work and exchange valuable insights with representatives from other EU-funded projects, such as KEYSTONE’s sister project SETO.

Council of the European Union: Signing off on stricter CO2 emission standards for heavy-duty vehicles

On 13 May 2024, the Council adopted the regulation on CO2 emission standards for heavy-duty vehicles.

The updated rules will further reduce CO2 emissions from road transport and will introduce new targets for 2030, 2035 and 2040. 

More robust standards for CO2 emissions will help increase the share of zero-emission vehicles in the heavy-duty vehicle fleet across the EU, while ensuring that innovation in and the competitiveness of the sector are preserved and enhanced.

On 1 July 2024, a landmark deal on cross-border data flows between the EU and Japan entered into force.

The deal marks as a milestone in the joint efforts to advance the digitalisation of European and Japanese societies and economies.

It will further promote the concept of ‘Data Free Flow with Trust’, a guiding principle for international cooperation on data flows, based on our shared values. Additionally, it will allows the foundation for a common approach on digital trade, acting against arbitrary unjustified restrictions to data flows, while promoting shared prosperity. 

Italy eyes paperless road freight as 36th country to join e-CMR

The country has officially ratified e-CMR, the digital protocol to the United Nations CMR convention for international road goods transport.

The Electronic Consignment Note, known as the e-CMR protocol, came into effect at the beginning of July 2024, and aims to establish a legal framework for entirely paperless goods transport by road. The protocol aims to lower handling costs, eliminate administrative and invoicing delays and reduce discrepancies at delivery sites. Finally, the e-CMR standard will enable Italian logistics firms to offer more efficient services to domestic and international clients.
