La Voce de Novara Article: At CIM, an experimental project for the security of the freight transport system (27 November 2023)
On Tuesday, 25 November 2023, at the CIM spa Interporto di Novara headquarters, KEYSTONE project held a round table attended by twenty-two managers from all over Europe.
KEYSTONE is an ambitious project, funded by the European Union, that aims to develop a sustainable, efficient and safe transportation system that allows authorities to access data for compliance checks. This is the overreaching goal of KEYSTONE project, which was discussed at the Novara Intermodal Center on Tuesday, 28 November, in a panel discussion attended by twenty-two managers from across the continent.
For this purpose, the partners involved in the project activities aim to find standardised digital solutions to the freight transportation system, particularly cross-border freight by demonstrating the validity of a proposed web app solution through two real-world pilots. Additionally, KEYSTONE intends to develop a seamless digital transportation ecosystem that is functional and replicable across all nodes.
The project also has an environmental impact as it aims to reduce costs and CO2 footprint. Public authorities will also be provided with the tools to increase the degree of efficiency of the security.
"It is significant to mention that the project allows all stakeholders to express their views and opinions, and report new critical issues, ideas and visions even throughout its duration. The study and research group will consider and use every useful cue to improve the research and finalize it to the objectives," highlights Mr Massimo Arnese, (ICT Manager at CIM spa Interporto di Novara & CEO at CROSSTEC SRL).
At the KEYSTONE meeting participated many high-ranking respresentatives: Mr Gianfranco De Angelis, from the Italian Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, Mrs Alessandra Faranda Cordella, Quaestor of Novara, Mrs Anne Guèrin, Terminal Manager at Combiconnect Srl (Hupac Group) & Mr Aldo Croci, Director for Information Technology at Hupac Group, a Swiss company that is CIM's main shareholder.
