Meet Coventry University
Coventry University (Coventry) is a global, modern university with a mission of Creating Better Futures. We were founded by entrepreneurs and industrialists in 1843 as the Coventry School of Design and we continue to have strong links with the public and private sector, providing job-ready graduates with the skills and creative thinking to improve their communities.
With a proud tradition of innovative teaching and learning, Coventry has world-class campus facilities, the UK’s first standalone 5G network and a digital community of learning. Coventry’s students are part of a global network that has 50,000 learners studying for Coventry degrees in more than 40 different countries and partnerships with 150 higher education providers worldwide.
Coventry has greatly increased its research capacity and ability with a focus on impactful research, delivered for and with partners, to address real-world challenges and support businesses and communities to develop and grow. In recent years, Coventry has won many awards and vastly improved its rankings in the league tables that matter to students. Coventry was ranked top 30 in the world for the ratio of its international students in the QS World University Rankings 2022, was shortlisted for University of the Year in The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2021, and was named Joint first Modern University for Careers Prospects in the Guardian University Guide 2022.

Relevant Background & Expertise
Coventry is well known for being ambitious and innovative, making a significant contribution to important global and societal challenges. Coventry’s new £100M research strategy, ‘Excellence with Impact’, builds on this trend and will transform the way it conducts research by applying fresh and original approaches.
The University has an extensive track record in engagement with Europe and European research and development. Over the last 3 years Coventry has been delivering on over 120 research contracts awarded by the European Commission, the vast majority of which have been multi-partner collaborations across Europe and beyond. The support from the EC for these projects has totalled over £35 million and involved every Faculty and Institute within the University. Specific funding streams have included Culture 2000, DAPHNE, Eco-Innovation, EDULINK, Erasmus, EU Health Programme, Framework 7, ICT Policy Support Programme, Intelligent Energy Europe, INTERREG, Leonardo da Vinci, TEMPUS and the Lifelong Learning Transversal Programme, INTAS, Socrates, INFO 2000, MLIS, Promise and EuropeAid projects, H2020, and HERCULE.
Coventry hosts several interdisciplinary research centres, including the Centre Business in Society (CBiS) and the Centre for Financial and Corporate Integrity (CFCI). These centres bring together expertise from a wide range of disciplines and research themes such as financial markets and institutions, accountability, business integrity, governance and ethics, and development economics with a focus on large corporations across industrial and geographical boundaries. Through understanding the impact of organisations’ activities, behaviours and policies, our research seeks to promote responsibility and to change behaviours to achieve better outcomes for economies and societies.
Through understanding the impact of organisations’ activities, behaviours and policies, Coventry University’s research, has enabled the Business & Law Research Centres to develop and work in the delivery of a Doctorate in Business Administration; an MBA in Cyber Security for senior practitioners, an MSc in Cyber Security Management, and an LLM in Financial Crime offering an understanding of the changing cyber threat landscape and the developments in cyberspace and law enforcement practices and policies including current cyber security issues, concepts and technologies. Coventry has responded to data protection and ethics requirements in other projects, so it has a good understanding of what the EC is expecting.
The above rich profile makes Coventry a highly competent partner to effectively implement all the tasks it leads in KEYSTONE (i.e. Task 1.2, Task 3.3, Task 5.5, and Task 7.3 ) and to support the overall implementation of the project.
