From 16 to 20 September 2024, the KEYSTONE project participated in the 30th ITS World Congress, which this year was held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. As one of the most significant global events for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), the Congress attracted more than 14,700 attendees, featured 170 sessions, and welcomed over 650 speakers from 85 countries. Organised by ERTICO and hosted by Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), it was the perfect platform to explore the future of smart mobility and digitisation of transport.

The event provided a fantastic opportunity for the KEYSTONE project to present its latest innovations and solutions, particularly in data exchange and cutting-edge technologies for smart and systainable transport. KEYSTONE was represented by two project partners, Mr Paulo Cantillano Lizana from ICOOR and Mr Lorenzo Valletta from TTS Italia. Among the 175 exhibitors, TTS Italia had its dedicated booth, where the KEYSTONE project was featured. Both partners had the opportunity to network and connect with other attendees, sharing knowledge and showcasing KEYSTONE’s progress in creating a digital ecosystem to streamline data exchange between key players in transportation.

A Congress highlight was 19 September 2024, when Mr Paulo Cantillano Lizana moderated Session 81: "Data Sharing and Innovative-Enabled Technologies in Logistics: New Opportunities and Collaboration." The panel included: Mr Eusebiu Catana from ERTICO-ITS Europe, Mr Massimo Marciani from FIT Consulting, Mrs Francesca Merlo from Politecnico di Torino, and Mr Vasileios Giannoudis from the Hellenic Institute of Transport (HIT/CERTH). In his role as moderator, Mr Cantillano Lizana utilized KEYSTONE’s example and its initial 18 months of development to effectively initiate the discussion with the panellists. This approach provided a concrete context for exploring the challenges and opportunities associated with data sharing in logistics.

The session provided some great discussions about how EU-funded projects are advancing data exchange in logistics, and it was exciting to see new ideas and potential collaborations emerge from the conversation.

The 31st ITS World Congress will take place in Atlanta (USA) on 24-28 August at the Georgia World Congress Center, with the theme Deploying Today, Empowering Tomorrow!

We are also looking forward to the next 16th ITS European Congress, which will take place in Seville (Spain) on 2-4 June 2025 under the theme Clean, Resilient and Connected Mobility.
